Okere

Five minutes north of the cottage is the Okere river and Okere Falls.  A beautiful bush walk leads you alongside the river to view the series of falls in all their splendour.  The river is also home to several white water rafting companies for the more adventurous.

Fishing

The cottage is in perfect position for those who like to fish!  Most mornings there are up to a half dozen small boats a couple of hundred metres offshore silently patrolling for the world famous prize in the shallow depths of Lake Rotorua - Trout!  Rotorua angler John Hoani recently caught a monster brown trout in the Ohau channel (several minutes away by car or boat).  The trout, caught 25/10/05, weighed in at 19lb (8.6kg).

The Lakes District

Lake Rotorua, upon the shores of which the cottage is located, is the centerpiece of the network of lakes within the Rotorua district.  Many of the other Lakes are a short distance away.  Lake Rotoiti is several minutes away in a car or a short walk.

Thermal Wonderland

One of Rotorua's premier attractions is "Hells Gate".  This is Rotorua's  most active geothermal area and is about five minutes by car or you could stretch your legs and enjoy a leisurely walk.
